Cisco acquires Jabber – new era in enterprise IM space

Cisco announced that it has acquired Jabber. The amount is undisclosed. With the acquisition of Jabber Cisco will be able to improve it’s instant messaging services.
Many people use Jabber for instant messaging. Jabber is based on Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). Jabber runs free IM services and they have created many free softwares for our use. You can download a free client software and login to your jabber enabled services to chat with your friends. Google Talk, AIM, Live Journal and many otehrs support jabber services.
This move will really help Cisco to improve their scope in the enterprise IM space.
