PwC Report Predicts High Growth For Mobile VAS Market

According to a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers, VAS market is likely to produce revenues of over Rs 55,000 crore in the next 4 years. The boom will come on the back of rolling out of 3G services and access to broadband wireless. The report also said that by 2015 total revenues from communication services is expected to cross Rs 20,000 crore while total revenues from entertainment and information services is anticipated to be pegged around Rs 25,000 crore and Rs 7900 crore respectively.
Huge Potential Of Mobile VAS
Sivarama Krishnan, PwC India Executive Director said that mobile VAS in India has huge prospects as the country is yet to reach the point when it comes to broadband penetration. Mr Krishnan also added that India is expected to set benchmarks on VAS similar to that of pure voice segment.
The report titled Value Added Service: The Next Wave covered more than 1000 respondents across 10 Indian cities. It also assessed the present state of VAS ecosystem in the country. Mr Krishnan also said that consumer diversity will also boost VAS market in the country and the landscape will become intensely competitive in coming days.
