If you are looking for a free and powerful FTP client for your MAC then I suggest you to try Cyberduck. Cyberduck is an open source FTP, SFTP, Mosso Cloud Files, WebDAV and Amazon S3 browser for the MAC OS. The interface looks pretty neat and even novice users will be very happy to use it. The application has got quickly accessible bookmarks. You can easily configure for Amazon CloudFront to distribute your content in the cloud. You can even edit files by a seamless integration with several external editors. Cyberduck supports many OS X core system technologies such as Spotlight, Bonjour and the Keychain.

Cyberduck supports FTP (File Transfer Protocol), FTP/TLS (FTP secured over SSL/TLS), SFTP (SSH Secure File Transfer), WebDAV (Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning) and Amazon S3. It comes with an easy to use bookmarking feature. You can even limit the number of concurrent transfers and filter files by using simple regular expressions. You can also resume both interrupted download and uploads. Cyberduck supports AppleScripts, Growl and iDisk.

Cyberduck is great although I also like FileZilla which is free too! If you’re looking for a file transfer server I’d suggest having a look at Hermstedt StingRay – its a multi-protocol file transfer appliance @
