One of my readers asked for a good CD/DVD emulation software and I suggested him to try out Gizmo Drive. Basically the emulation software allows you to run a CD or a DVD image directly from your hard disk. All that you will be doing is mounting the image to a virtual disk drive and use it as if you are running the Disc from a physical drive. This works in a better way when compared with the traditional way for users to run a CD/DVD from a physical disk drive after mounting the CD/DVD onto it.
Gizmo Drive is very good free emulation software which will allow you to mount a CD/DVD image to a virtual drive using a driver. When you mount an image it appears as if there is an actual CD/DVD drive or hard drive in your computer. The latest version consists of Advanced Themes, New Full VHD mounting (Dynamic, fixed, & differencing), Hex Editor and Syntax Text Editor, Mouse & Keyboard Automation, Database tools, Query Analyzer, with IntelliSense and Scalable hash calculation using MD5, SHA-1, CRC32.
Gizmo Drive supports up to 26 virtual drives and you can mount VHD, IMG, BIN, CUE, NRG, CCD, MDS, MDF and GDRIVE images. You can even create ISO images from a disk or folder, and burn the contents of an ISO file or a folder to a disk. Gizmo Drive offers additional features like creating a GDRIVE image for simulating a HDD with compression and encryption and creating a virtual hard drive backed by system memory for better performance.
