The notebook looks more like a tank rather than a machine. The chassis is carved out of PR-72 ultra-polymer and magnesium alloy which can take a lot of beating. There is the XFR logo on either side of the notebook which gives it a tough look. On each corner of the notebook, you will find a rubber bumper which provides it extra protection against drop. Overall the machine sports a solid look and built and Dell has done a fine job in lending durability to the machine. The durability comes from the usage of PR-72 ultra-polymer usage in the chassis. Dell Latitude E6420 XFR Keyboard and Touchpad
The notebook sports a black matte full-sized backlit keyboard which provided a great typing experience. The keys are flat, medium-sized are resistant to fingerprints and provided a firm feedback with a little bit of flex. The keyboard is backlit in nature which helped us to type in dark room.
The 3.1×1.7 inch frictionless surface of the touchpad offered great navigation with accuracy. But we found that it was very difficult to execute multi-touch gestures and many a times the touchpad misinterpreted our movements. The soft touch mouse buttons however, provided a springy feedback.
